Goodbye Beijing, Hello London !

Beijing 2008 is eventually over and in our back. We will certainly keep good memories of these Olympic games. Of the athletes, their joys and pains. The records with Michael Phelps, Michel Bolt and all the others. Lets hope their joy was their own and not the one of the doctors and labs...

The organisation was very good, fantastic, without problems. The opening ceremony was beautiful, except the little cheating about this cute little girl who was not cute enough to be shown to the world and replaced by the other 'cuter' one, but the show was breathtaking. The closing ceremony was nice. Spotless. Lifeless !

I was zapping on my TV and saw that BBC1 was showing the party organised by London for 2012 Olympic Games. Ok, it's only a party and the games are six year away. But it is spontaneous, it's lively, it's fun. Everything that I missed watching the Beijing games.

Chinese have made hugh progress. They have probably made a very big effort welcoming all the athletes, journalists and tourists in their country. There probably was no major problem during these two weeks. But I feel it was all as if it was all written in a scenario. Of course you have to plan such a hugh event. I spent a week in Athens in 2004, the volunteers were great, the games were great. The spirit was great. Of course, I watched Beijing Olympics on TV, but I also watched all the other Olympic games on TV. Still I feel this spirit was not there in Beijing. The party was missing.

I look forward to 2012. To the party, the fun and the Olympic spirit. The Freedom !
